Fantastic villa Review Submitted: July 5, 2010Date of Stay: May 2010 Myself and 10 friends spent another fantastic week at Casa Sete Mares. This was our 6th year of visiting this friendly little village and staying at our 2nd home. Antonio and Rosa as always were very hospitable and helpful. The top pool is now heated which is far more inviting. As always Manuel, Alice and Rui at The Nautilus Restaurant did us proud with their homemade meals. The little supermarket on the corner couldn’t do enough to help us. In fact everybody in Praia das Macas were so friendly and appeared to be very pleased to see us back again. We have already booked for next year, and would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a home from home feel, there is everything you could possibly need. And if there isn’t, then Antonio is always at hand to help you. 9 adults and 2 children under 5 looking forward to having fun in the sun in March. When we arrived at the property we were welcomed by the lady and shown around the house. We felt totally at home. It was magic having lots of space and lots to keep all ages entertained. Could not believe they had a bouncy castle for the children. The owner even arrived with a couple of bottles of Portuguese wine to help us celebrate. Had a great time with the family and would definitively book again. It took around 10 minutes to walk to the beach but to be honest we spent so much time at the property it was not an issue. I would recommend car hire during the winter months due to public transport but again it was not an issue.
Just got back from Portugal having had a wonderful week staying at Casa Sete Mares.
Very reasonable price for a great budget week in the sun. Huge villa, lower floor is entirely yours. Rooms were clean and facilities were good - heated pool and hot tub were lovely and the games room was great fun.
Location was good - easy walk to little town with restaurants and shops. Hourly buses to nearest large town, Sintra, which is an absolute must-see (especially recommend the Quinta da Regaleira for a once-in-a-lifetime visit to a mad Victorian house and gardens, truly spectacular. We went twice in 3-days!).
If you're expecting a 5-star villa then you'll be disappointed - but the house is humble, clean and welcoming. There were 10 adults including a wheelchair-user and we had far too much space!! Felt no lack of privacy from upper floors - any staff members encountered were friendly and respectful of our privacy.
I would recommend to a friend and would stay there again.
On our arrival at 'casa sete mares', the first thing we noticed is that the whole villa is not for rent. It is actually a very large ground floor apartment, this housed our group of 7 very comforatably, and was very well furnished. It is very conveniently located for the local shop, market, restaurants and beach. However, you do need a car for further exploration and to initally reach the villa.
The property was clean and for the most part well maintained, there were a few small niggles. eg the spa bath in the en suite bathroom didn't seem to work, the dishwasher in the red kitchen and the microwave in the other couldn't be used. Being a very relaxed group of people these things did not stop us from having an excellent time. we enjoyed very much having the pool, jacuzzi and games room. the weather was excellent, and we enjoyed being able to eat outside.
Whenever, we did need to trouble Antonio and Rosa for anything they were delightful and obliging.
The surrounding area was beautiful, we visited the palacio da pena and castello dos mouros. I would really like to return to this area and explore some more.
We visited the villa in September 2010 as a large group of friends/family with children. We were very excited as we had visited the area briefly before and found it verybeautiful. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the villa which looks immaculate on the website but sadly in reality is not. The 'games room' consisted of a broken pool table and a clutter of furniture, the outside seat pads were stained and mouldy, there were old damaged dirty childrens toys strewn about the place, an abandonded old armchair outside, the sheets were clean but stained, towels were supplied but were old and thread bare, the 'childrens pool' was empty and had cigarette butts in it, the hot tub was out of use.....the list goes on. For the amount we paid for it we expected higher standards. The whole place is in need of a total refurb - the photos are not taken recently!! Having said that Antonio was very helpful and seemed genuinely concerned with the issues we raised. We decided that rather than spoil our holiday we'd cut our losses and go elsewhere. What a shame.

Our family of 8 adults stayed at Casa da Sete Mares for a week in April. The house was lovely, very clean with all the amenities that one would want. The outdoor setting was lovely and very comfortable as was the inside of the house. The owners were very helpful during our stay. The Icelandic volcano closed down many airports shortly after we arrived. Part of our party had to stay an extra week in Portugal because their flights were cancelled. Antonio, the owner, let them stay in the guest house for an extremely reasonable rent. Since the wifi didn't extend to the guesthouse, he let them use the main house for their computer needs. He even brought over a printer for them to use to print boarding passes. We highly recommend this villa for comfort, convenience and the marvelous small town, Praia das Macas, in which it is located. We had several exceptional meals at the Neptune Restaurant, the best of our trip. We'd return to Casa da Sete Mares in a minute.
Casa Sete Mares is located in a quiet place of beach 'Praia das Macas'. The property has a beautiful garden where is set an heated pool. The pool area has a private view from neighborhood. Quickly, we find Sintra, World Heritage, (ten minutes drive). In half an hour we got Cascais, Estoril and Lisbon Center. From Lisbon Airport it's very easy find the way to Sintra. There are five championship golf courses in less than half an hour drive.
Praia Grande, a fantastic beach, is 15 min. walk.
Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe, with splendid view over the Atlantic Ocean, is 15 min. drive, from the property..
Other Activities: Bodyboard, Football, Fitness, Bodybuilding, etc
Golf: Close to the villa you will find several golf courses :
Penha Longa Golf (Estoril Open), Quinta da Marinha Golf, Beloura Golf, Belas Golf, Estorill Golf, etc.
These golf courses are located within half an hour drive from the villa.
The area of Natural Park Sintra-Cascais is one of the best areas in the country for the golf players.
